Soboleff’s passing in early July, created a vacancy on the thirteen-member board. According to Sealaska corporate bylaws and the Alaska State law, the board has an obligation to fill vacancies.
“Out of respect for Director Soboleff and his family, the board is deferring action on filling the vacancy until Sealaska’s fall board meeting in September,” said Sealaska Board Chair Joe Nelson. “Director Soboleff skillfully led a board governance reform effort, that embraced a philosophy of continuous improvement. Over the last couple of years, his calm and deliberate leadership style guided the board through a number of difficult conversations that ultimately resulted in a number of meaningful improvements in how the board works together to accomplish its goals.”
The board will meet September 6-7, 2018.
