Damen Bell-Holter Wants to Hear from You in Southeast Alaska and Washington State Communities
Throughout May and early June, Damen Bell-Holter will meet with students, host basketball camps and speak at Sealaska community meetings in Southeast Alaska and Washington State communities.
The former professional basketball player from Hydaburg, Alaska is now Sealaska’s Director of Youth and Community Development. His role and passion is to mentor and motivate Southeast Alaska and Pacific Northwest youth so they can eventually serve and enhance their communities and Native organizations.
“Since the age of 14, basketball was my life. Over my athletic career, coaches and many others guided me in a positive direction through encouragement, tough conversations and passion that may not have been there otherwise,” Damen said. “I know it was important for my upbringing, and I want to give back and guide our youth toward a brighter future.”
Damen wants to meet with shareholders, teachers, mentors, coaches and other influential community members while in their communities. “Come with ideas of how I can help provide opportunities for our young leaders,” Damen said. This could include hosting workshops, basketball camps and motivational speaking engagements at schools and communities. He will be available before and after the previously scheduled Sealaska community meetings to talk with community members about future opportunities and desired messaging to local youth.
