Monico Ortiz

Independent candidate Monico Ortiz

I am the grandson of Thomas J. Hansen, who was a Tlingit from the Eagle clan. My grandfather was an orphan, born in Ketchikan and raised in a Sitka boarding school. His mother was Anne Johnson.

Bring in more job opportunities and profit for our shareholders.

Our people are smart and can impact the world in ways we have never seen. We are doing good work, but I know we can do better. My business plan is to significantly grow Sealaska’s environmental, scientific, technology and construction services. There are untapped potentials that would bring in revenue to continue funding our cultural programs and promote our core values, while promoting shareholder hiring with high-paying jobs. My desire is to see our corporation and our Native shareholders thrive for a better future.

My experience involves working for many years as an electrical engineer/project lead for a variety of highly successful companies. I know what it takes to succeed and to be profitable. I hold several money-making patents.

Those who know me are aware that I listen to our fellow shareholders and that I am known for doing what I say I will do. I humbly ask for your consideration.
