Sealaska intern team at 2019 AISES national conference in Milwaukee, WI

For the second year in a row, Sealaska is a Native Circle sponsor for the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) national conference. Sealaska is very excited to support this one-of-a-kind, three-day event focused on educational, professional, and workforce development!

AISES is a non-profit organization founded in 1977 to increase the representation of American Indian, Alaskan Native, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, First Nation, and other indigenous peoples of North America in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). AISES membership for pre-college and college students is free. It gives members access to academic and professional networks and provides students with an opportunity to connect with companies, tribal enterprises, corporations, universities, government agencies, and other STEM majors.

The AISES national conference is held virtually this year, October 15-17, 2020, and those interested must register by midnight (MDT) on October 5, 2020, to access the event. AISES members receive a discount on registration. The virtual conference platform will allow participants to connect through rich interactive tools such as audio/video/text chat, polls, webinars, and videos in an immersive environment to get the conversation going. There will be seminars for college and high school STEM students to attend, and exhibitors that include Amazon, GM, NSA, IBM, NASA, and many more. There are keynote speakers such as Academy Award-winning actor Wes Studi, and Lillian Sparks Robinson, CEO of Wopila Consulting, LLC.

The Sealaska intern team will be at the conference’s college and career fair recruiting for 2021 summer internships on Thursday, October 15, from 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM (MDT).   At the Sealaska booth, participants will have the option of having one-on-one video/audio chat with our team members about Sealaska’s businesses and open intern roles. Attendees are encouraged to look for our intern team and ask any questions they may have about the intern program.

If you or someone you know may be interested in the Sealaska summer intern program, reach out to our team at intern@sealaska.com.
