Board Seat Application Closed, Selection Process Begins Now
Tuesday, October 2, 2018

Gunalchéesh, Háw’aa, ‘Doyckshishm to Each Board Seat Applicant

Sealaska recently announced it was accepting applications to fill a vacant seat on its board following the passing of Director Ross Soboleff.  After his passing in July, we reflected on what made him a great Sealaska board member. He was thoughtful, deliberate, humble – a gentle and calming force on the board – and with that came effectiveness. His leadership will be missed, but we look to only strengthen ourselves with his legacy.

Through the application process Ross helped create, Sealaska received an outpouring of qualified and dedicated shareholders interested in the position. We are grateful for each person taking the time to apply. We are fortunate to have such an engaged and dedicated community of shareholders interested in contributing to the future of Sealaska. Our future is bright because of you.

Joe Nelson, Sealaska board chair

Now, we carry the weight and responsibility to select one shareholder from more than 50 applicants to complete Ross’s term through 2020. The entire board is committed to a clear selection process. The board’s nominations committee will complete a thorough review process for each candidate and narrow the list to provide the board final candidates for consideration. Those candidates will complete a nominations packet and be interviewed by members of the nominations committee. Only then will a final decision be made.

Sealaska is on an exciting path. Our businesses are shifting focus to improve ocean health and marine ecosystems. Our commitment to responsible, sustainable businesses that account for people and the planet will define our future. We are proud that these businesses are financially strong and able to make consistent and meaningful contributions to efforts our shareholders care about. Whether you are on the board or not, your voice as a shareholder matters. Continue to stay engaged with us. Together, we can create a promising future.
