Sealaska Partners with Red Cross to Provide Community Emergency Vehicle

Vehicle will allow the Red Cross to assist more families in Southeast communities

Sealaska has sponsored a Community Emergency Vehicle (CEV) to be based in Juneau. This vehicle will enable Red Cross staff and volunteers to provide support and relief to southeast Alaska communities.

“The Dodge Promaster van will be used to serve communities efficiently and effectively. Having this additional resource in our southeast towns means the Red Cross can be there when we are needed to help those affected by disasters,” said Bryan Cassela, Disaster Program Officer for the American Red Cross of Alaska.

In addition to responding to disasters like home fires and floods, the vehicle will also be used to transport staff and volunteers to community events, haul emergency supplies such as cots and clean up kits and be utilized for teaching lifesaving skills such as CPR/first aid classes.

“Sealaska is excited for the opportunity to work with the Red Cross,” said Sealaska Senior Director of Corporate Communications Matt Carle. “We look forward to seeing the van out in our communities, helping our shareholders and tribal citizens across Southeast Alaska.”
