U.S. Department of Energy Awards N3B Los Alamos LLC / Sealaska Technical Services Joint Venture Team $1.3 Billion Contract
Tuesday, February 6, 2018

Sealaska Technical Services LLC (STS) announced today that its joint venture with Tetra Tech, Inc. was selected to provide program management and technical services in support of the ground & surface water monitoring program at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Los Alamos National Laboratory.

The Sealaska Technical Services led Joint Venture is a critical subcontractor on the N3B Los Alamos LLC team, which was awarded the Los Alamos Legacy Cleanup Contract (LLCC) in late December 2017. Under this contract vehicle, the joint venture, Tech2 Solutions, will provide program management and technical support for ground and surface water monitoring, stormwater corrective actions, drilling, and groundwater contamination remediation.

The Sealaska Technical Services Joint Venture will share in N3B Los Alamos LLC’s $1.39-billion single award contract over a ten-year duration.  The water scope is valued at approximately $20-million per year.  N3B Los Alamos LLC is a joint venture comprised of Stoller Newport News Nuclear (SN3), part of Huntington Ingalls Industries Technical Solutions division, and partner, BWXT Technical Services Group, Inc.  In addition to Tech2 Solutions (T2S), Longenecker and Associates is also a critical subcontractor to the team supporting quality assurance, contractor assurance and other functions.

Since its inception in 1943 as part of the Manhattan Project, LANL’s primary mission has been nuclear weapons research and development. The U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Environmental Management (DOE/EM) mission, and now N3B’s scope, is to characterize and remediate contaminants in the environment; decontaminate, decommission and demolish process-contaminated facilities; and manage and dispose of legacy transuranic wastes, thereby reducing risks to the public, workers and the environment associated with legacy material, facilities and waste sites.  This includes stewardship of the Los Alamos site’s surface and ground waters.

“We are excited that Sealaska’s strong environmental remediation capabilities will be utilized to clean up decades of contamination at the Los Alamos National Laboratory,” said Terry Downes, Sealaska COO. “We look forward to working closely with Tetra Tech and N3B to achieve the critically important environmental management goals of the contract.”

The work will be conducted at the U.S. Department of Energy / National Nuclear Security Administration’s  Los Alamos National Laboratory, a 36-square mile site in Los Alamos county about 25 miles northwest of Santa Fe, NM.
