Job Title: Marine Construction Superintendent

Job Summary:

This position will coordinate day to day activities of CS marine ongoing projects and construction activities. Role will also involve project planning from the Pre-Construction phase forward. Ensure to bring in safe projects on time, on budget, and within quality standards managing CS’ equipment, personnel, subcontractors and suppliers to achieve it. The Superintendent will report to the President and will manage all of CS’ field personnel.
Supervisory Responsibilities

• Assists with interviews, hires, and trains new staff.
• Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
• Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
• Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Plan and review project work with the President, Project Foreman and Field Staff.
• Able to complete moderate paperwork, including daily production reports, look ahead schedules, toolbox safety meetings.
• Coordinate special inspections, daily permits, and safety meetings.
• Conduct periodic internal project coordination and production meetings with CS’ field teams, the customer and subcontractors’ coordination meetings.
• Manage and plan for jobsite logistics, organization, project layout, equipment, and manpower utilization.
• Keep Project Manager informed of changes and schedule updates in the field to ensure changes are covered by general contract change order and subcontract change order processes.
• Coordinate and conduct project safety meetings with the team and customer.
• Layout and survey critical components of the job site.
• Coordinate rental and delivery of job specific tools and equipment.
• Dispatch crew members and equipment to job sites.
• Schedule barge and tug operations.
• Assist or Maintain project schedule in coordination with the President, VP of Engineering and Projects and Contracts Manager.
• Manage scheduling of all projects Operations and sequence as well as the delivery of materials and equipment, timely. Dispatch crews, review manning and crew needs for each job.
• Review and approve weekly timesheet entries and equipment usage.
• Ensure all work meets plans and specs.
• Housekeeping, keep job sites clean and safe.
• Problem solving and troubleshooting.
• Daily coordination/communication with facility personnel.
• Coordinate, direct, and monitor the activities of all subcontractors, suppliers, and CS field teams.
• Daily implementation of CS Safety program and policies.
• Daily implementation of all construction documents and specifications compliance.
• Daily communications with Operations Manager, following up on issues, PO’s, Submittals, etc.
• Weekly safety and progress meetings and documentation.
• Meeting attendance throughout projects with owners, subs, architects, and engineers.
• Additional work activities as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Exhibits high level ability to interpret plans and specifications.
• Ability to manage field crews from different union halls and trades.
• Ability to supervise the site project process with a high degree of marine construction knowledge.
• Ability to coordinate the field work of different subcontractors from all trades related to marine construction.
• Detail oriented and thorough with good organization skills.
• Exhibits good problem-solving skills and shows logical process to decision making.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
• Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite Programs.
• Multitask oriented capable of running multiple tasks concurrently.
• Understanding direct and indirect cost to a project.
• Understand of accounting and budgeting process.
• Proactive and responsive in a team environment.
• Uses autonomy and proactivity.
• Willing to learn and are curious.
• Physical ability to navigate a construction site.
• Follow all applicable company programs, procedures, and policies.

Education and Experience:

• College degree (Engineering or Architectural) or equivalent construction experience.
• 10+ years of marine construction experience
• Ability to plan, understand and deliver all aspects of near shore marine construction and heavy civil.
• Deep Knowledge of marine construction related equipment.

Physical Demands:

• This position will require moving of up to 40 lbs.
• This position will be mostly stationary requiring movement around the office, occasional visits to remote job sites, and frequent communication with others.
• The average working hours will be 8 hours per day for this position with occasional need to exceed
• Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to indoor and outdoor weather conditions and other elements prevalent at the time. Field work often includes uneven and slippery outdoor surfaces.
