Job Title: GIS Analyst II

Job Summary:

The GIS Analyst II will assist with all program GIS related projects including Advising on project work and technology, organizing workflows, researching new and better processes, training other staff both federal and contract. In addition, this individual will be responsible for working with the team lead on creating maps and GIS data resulting from unique analysis. This individual will be working with federal management as well as other contract specialists to perform all duties to support the GDEV program. This position may require travel and may require periodic onsite presence at the duty location in Lakewood, CO. The individual who takes this role will be good at interfacing with the BIA’s field staff as well as stakeholders, including tribal clientele.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Work with federal and contract leads and technicians to develop, update, modernize, and advise on a comprehensive, nationwide geospatial program.
• Be able to work with federal, contractor, and tribal entities to organize, coordinate, and execute geospatial and cartographic analysis and products.
• Be cognizant of all federal and or tribal policies, mandates, and other requirements where applicable.
• Maintain documentation of all federal records as per BIA records management policies.
• Report to and take lead from Lakewood Contract and Federal staff.
• Design, implement, and update geospatial workflows, databases, cartographic products and analytical models, scripts, etc...
• Willingness to learn new technologies and techniques to support the BOGS program.
• Be cognizant of and respectful towards all local and tribal customs, and sensitivities that may overlap with the job location, time of trip, or type of work being performed.
• Assist with other BIA program needs as per BOGS program lead request.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Must be able to demonstrate skills in conceiving, planning and problem solving in areas of considerable scope and complexity requiring unconventional or novel approaches and sophisticated techniques.
• Familiarity with Land parcel ownership data, Metes and Bounds, as well as the public land survey system.
• Must demonstrate excellent communication and writing skills.
• Must demonstrate ability to work independently but also within a team environment.
• Ability to diagnose and remedy technical problems with little or no oversite.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelors in Arts or Science in GIS, geography, science, engineering, or related field.
• At least 4 years’ experience in a geospatial or technically related field
• Experience in ESRI software, Raster processing software such as ERDAS, ENVI, or similar

Salary Range: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00
