Job Title: Compositor/Document Editor Specialist
Job Summary:
The Compositor/Document Editor is responsible for editing, formatting and producing documents and deliverables associated with drilling, groundwater monitoring, and surface water monitoring programs. This position requires technical writing and copy editing that supports document layout, composition, and final production for print and digital distributions. In addition, the technical editor is expected to uphold document quality standards associated with technical accuracy, consistency, and regulatory compliance.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Edit, proofread, and format deliverables, including monitoring and compliance reports, well completion reports, sampling and analysis plans, and regulatory submittals
• Ensure clarity, logical organization, and consistency, while preserving technical intent and client-specific requirements
• Ensure documents comply with established organizational style guides
• Coordinate with scientists, engineers, project managers, and geographic information system staff to support content, formatting, and compliance
• Verify accuracy and internal consistency of figures, tables, units, acronyms, references, and cross-references
• Manage document version control and ensure traceability of edits in multi-author and multi-reviewer environments
• Coordinate with client document control systems and staff through a multi-step document review process
• Coordinate with authors and subject matter experts to resolve content questions and inconsistencies
• Serve as a subject-matter expert for document quality standards, formatting best practices, and company style guide
• Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Must be a U.S. Citizen
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Communication, Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or a related field
• At least 4 years of experience in technical writing, analyzing and preparing documentation, and editing technical documents in an environmental consulting, engineering, or regulatory setting
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat

Physical Demands:
• Standard business hours with flexibility to meet project deadlines
• May require occasional onsite or client-facing support
• Ability to perform computer-based tasks and processing for up to 8 hours, including sitting or standing, mousing, and interacting with information on a computer monitor
• Ability to review detailed documents for prolonged durations
Work Environment:
This position will be required to work in the outdoors, and at times may include walking and hiking several miles while carrying equipment weighing approximately 30 lbs.

Salary Range: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00
