Job Title: SHI - Project Assistant - Baby Raven Reads
Job Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Language & Primary Education Director, this position is responsible for providing administrative support for the Baby Raven Reads Project.
Essential Functions
• Support the Baby Raven Reads Project’s Leadership Team (2 grant programs), keep meeting minutes, and invite the participation of project partners based on the project schedule.
• Assist to maintain documentation of people served and other necessary data collection for reporting purposes.
• Coordinate all travel related to project.
Organizes and prioritizes large volumes of information and incoming inquiries, emails and phone calls.
• Schedule and assist the Raven Reads Project Manager to organize complex activities, such as the project’s annual project orientation training, annual professional development training, and the participation by project staff in the annual Community of Secure Parenting training.
• Drafts memos and other correspondence related to Raven Reads as necessary for the Raven Reads Project Manager and Director.
• Coordinate the ordering of program supplies and resources and assist Raven Reads project staff in the preparation and mailing of approximately 300 Baby Raven Reads literacy kits monthly.
• May be responsible for driving a company van to deliver supplies, transport contractors or other items as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work well on own initiative and within a team.
• Proficient in computer applications, including word processors, spreadsheets, database software, and online survey applications.
• Highly organized, self-motivated, and attentive to details.
• Knowledge of Alaska Native cultures
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position will have no direct reports.
Work Environment
This position’s duties are performed in the Sealaska Heritage Institute office spaces. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to verbally communicate. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.
About this Role
This is a full-time benefited position. SHI employees are expected to work during SHI’s regular business hours of 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday. Additionally, many employees may work up to 45 hours per week or additional time as needed to meet workload demands or special events such as Celebration.
Required
Education and Experience:
• High School Diploma
• One year of administrative experience, or equivalent office experience

Hourly Rate Range: $20.51 - $25.64
