Job Title: SHI - Education Project Assistant - STEAM
Job Summary:
The objective of this position is to provide support to the project teams in the planning and execution of STEAM programming at SHI. The selected candidate will have experience entering and maintaining data in Excel formats; other experience managing data, such as travel documents. Inventory management and oversight will be a part of the Assistant’s general duties.
Duties/Responsibilities
• Support the project team with purchasing and associated internal paperwork.
• Collaborate with teachers participating in the project to ensure that approved consumable and non-consumable supplies are ordered and delivered in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with the Project Coordinator to prepare and manage project participants’ travel and professional development activities.
• Provide onsite staff support as needed during project related events including professional development and community workshops and summer camps.
• Provide general project support functions, such as photocopying, maintaining electronic and paper filing systems, and engaging in information sharing about the project.
• Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
• Demonstrated effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to assist to coordinate activities with attention to detail.
• Technical capacity using spreadsheets.
• Knowledge of Southeast Alaska Native culture and Southeast Alaska’s communities.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position will have no direct reports.
Work Environment
This position’s duties are performed at the offices of Sealaska Heritage Institute. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to verbally communicate. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and climbing. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.
About this Role
This is a full-time benefited position. SHI employees are expected to work during SHI’s regular business hours of 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday. Additionally, employees may work up to or over 45 hours per week or additional time as needed to meet workload demands or special events such as Celebration.
Required
Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or GED.
• 2 years of experience working in an office setting.

Hourly Rate Range: $20.51 - $25.64
