Heavy Civil/Marine Estimating Manager

Job Summary:

The Estimating manager is responsible for all aspects of detailed and conceptual estimates resulting in a complete and accurate proposal or bid. Cost estimating and proposal generation. Oversee the Jr. Estimator.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Assist with interviewing and hiring as well as training new staff.
• Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
• Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
• Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Identify bid opportunities, visiting project sites, and attending pre-bid meetings.
• Prepare RFP level schedules during proposal bidding phase to pursue new work.
• Review RFPs and prepare the proposal checklists to track proposal tasks, assign tasks and ensure

proposals are submitted as per RFP requirements.

• Work with estimating software, take-off software, and other tools to develop project estimates.
• Research and develop subcontractor & vendor relationships for upcoming projects.
• Develop and maintain subcontractor & vendor databases.
• Contact, receive and evaluate subcontractor and vendor proposals.
• Able to take the initiative to propose new ideas and provide alternative solutions.
• Responsible for proposal submission details such as bid time, location, bid runner, bid form.
• Dedicate time, at the jobsite, to learn new means & methods.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Proficiency with all MS Office products
• Ability to interpret plans and specifications
• Multi-task oriented capable of running multiple estimates concurrently
• Possess or ability to obtain a TWIC Card
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
• Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.

Education and Experience:

• B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
• 5-10 years of estimating experience in Marine or Heavy/Civil Construction
• Prefer some experience with Federal Contracting
• Experience with AutoCAD or an equivalent

Salary Range: $150,000.00 - $180,000.00
